Working together,
we’ll settle it.
we’ll settle it.
Kara's two decades of litigation experience began at Plunkett Cooney PC and continued in-house at Ford Motor Company. She's appeared before judges across the country and negotiated multi-million dollar cases with both plaintiff and defense litigants. As you may already know, she grew up in the courtroom. Her father, Hon. Kaye Tertzag, was appointed Wayne County Circuit Court Judge in 1986. She witnessed his passion for justice and fairness, and was inspired by his ability to resolve conflict. She's dedicated to helping parties achieve positive alternative dispute resolution outside of court.
Kara has significant experience managing both plaintiff and defense interests in complex intellectual property disputes- including non-compete, copyright, licensing, open source software, trademark, trade secret, and patent claims and lawsuits. She advised global clients daily on important IP matters and served as Ford's registered copyright agent. She's negotiated multi-million dollar transactions with businesses ranging in size from Silicon Valley start-up companies to multi-national corporations and educational institutions, managing the ongoing business relationship between the parties during disputes in an effort to avoid litigation. She's also litigated commercial disputes.
Kara has a wide range of personal injury litigation experience. She was the lead attorney at Ford for all company car auto accident cases nationwide, including both first and third party benefit cases and for all premises liability cases nationwide, including catastrophic injury, death, and workers' compensation exclusive remedy disputes, including multi-party disputes involving indemnification and hold-harmless agreements. She also had nationwide responsibility for automotive product liability matters.
She also has significant litigation experience in employment, family, municipal, and education cases.
Kara's unique legal experience combined with her enthusiasm and can-do attitude will produce great results for your clients, whether they are trying to resolve a pre-suit matter or are engaged in ongoing and contentious litigation. Kara will gladly host at her Birmingham office or at your location of choice. Please contact Kara at 313.645.9511 or [email protected] to schedule your session.
